Fill Up Your Love Cup

happy4That’s what Soul Mentor Jen Gilchrist said on the most recent episode of my podcast, the Own Your Creativity show, and it really resonated with me.

Jen was working so hard, putting everyone’s needs before her own (including those of her business), and before she knew it, burn-out was looming!

Then she took a step back and saw that she had to practice self-care and self-love if she were to reach her goals in a healthy, soul-enriching way.

Bringing back fun and creativity into your life is a great way to fill up your love cup.

Sometimes, though, we’re overwhelmed with the day-to-day, and it’s hard to imagine we can change or that we can do better for ourselves.

Being creative doesn’t have to add to the overwhelm, though. In fact, just 5 minutes a day is all you need to start reaping the benefits.

Everyone has at least five minutes a day, and if you don’t, then you especially need to give yourself the love-cup gift.

Here are some ideas on how to fill up your love cup, five minutes a day:

  • take a quick walk
  • journal for five minutes
  • drink your morning beverage without doing anything else except savouring the experience
  • listen to your favourite inspirational tape
  • meditate
  • use creative visualization
  • recreate in your mind’s eye your most relaxing holiday or hike in the forest

All you have to do is set the timer for five minutes, and you are off to a great start!

Do it every day, because you deserve at least that much.
