A Place to Write, Play & Explore

Tuesdays, November 7, 14, 21, 28 - 7pmET - Online

We've all been there. We sit down to write and nothing happens. Or worse, we let the inner critic come in and topple our writing dreams like a little brat ruining a sand castle.

In The Writing Den, you get to play around with language, take risks, and know that everyone is doing the same.

That's what The Writing Den is all about: A structured yet fun space to kick-start your writing in the company of others.

Together we can go farther than we might ordinarily go on our own, especially when we are just starting to build a writing practice.

Elizabeth is our writers' whisperer. She gently prompts, challenges, and encourages us to not only make room for creativity on a daily basis, but to trust enough in ourselves to share our stories as we connect with like-minded individuals. Kudos to her for finding the ideal way to brought the best in us. Many thanks for a wonderful experience!

Why A Live Writing Den?

A writer's life is often a solitary one by necessity. There's just no getting around the fact that to write you need to have time to yourself, to think, to puzzle through, and to create.

As an antidote to that alone time, I love to get together with other writers. It rejuvenates my creativity and re-energizes my writing. Going to a writing retreat, a writers' festival or even just a literary reading often does the trick.

The more contact with like-minded writers, the more we inspire each other.

But, sometimes it's just not possible to go away for a whole week just to write with other writers, and that's why I've created The Writing Den, a live writing session that meets once a week for four weeks!

The Online Writing Den meets every Tuesday at 7pm Eastern Time for 90 minutes.

This challenge was fun, inviting and invigorating, and I know for a fact that it has helped me, not only on a writing level, but with my relationship with my creative self. Dawn got her groove back! Thank you, Elizabeth, for such a fun adventure that you clearly took a lot of time to create. Your compassion and caring nature is greatly appreciated by my sensitive self.

How It Works

For the Online Writing Den, each week, you'll receive the link to join our private online meeting space.

During our time together, I'll take you through a series of short writing exercises and prompts. After I give the prompt, I'll keep track of the time so you can focus on your writing.

After each exercise, I'll invite you to share briefly what you wrote with the rest of us. Sharing is completely optional but encouraged and welcome.

Materials Required

Paper, pen, and a quiet, comfortable place to write.

Your Investment

Your cost for the four weekly sessions is $100.00 USD.

Every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8:30pm Eastern Time, November 7, 14, 21, 28, 2017. $100USD

I no longer fear writing or sharing my writing with the world and feel very inspired to continue writing daily in order to make concrete progress on my current writing projects. Elizabeth was an incredible source of insight and inspiration.

It felt like oxygen!

Jean-Francois Reynaud, Montreal, Canada

I started out as a discouraged writer, unsure of my voice and through this challenge, I discovered my own unique style of writing as well as my group mates! This gave me confidence to be open, honest and content with my responses to the varied and interesting writing prompts Elizabeth Johnston shared. The process of discovering and writing my answers to these prompts and the support from my peers made all the difference.
