THE STORY LOUNGE
A warm and inspiring community to unearth and share your personal stories, life experiences and wisdom to create your unique impact in the world.
What in the World is The Story Lounge?
When you read a story shared by a someone that is based on their life experience, you understand them -- but more importantly -- you understand yourself in a new or deeper way. You make vital connections between your experience and that of another person's experience.
This magical connection happens no matter who the writer is. You could be a hobby writer, a retiree, or a someone who just wants to share their wisdom and life experience with the world.
But when you share your stories, you give voice to what previously had no words.
And this is how you shine your light into the darkness, making the world a better place in the process.
Connecting to Heart & Soul through Story
Another gift you experience when you write about your life is personal growth. The process helps you see how far you've come and appreciate your inner strength and resilience.
Unearthing your stories and shaping them to reveal your multi-faceted experience and wisdom also has physical, mental and spiritual benefits.
Scientific studies have shown that our immune system and mental wellbeing is bolstered by engaging in the creative act of writing and sharing stories.
All these benefits just through the magic of story! It's incredible!

The Story Lounge Details & Schedule
The Thematic Writing Session happens the first Wednesday of the month at 2pm Eastern.
Thematic Writing Lounge
Every month, there will be a new theme we explore. During our live session, there will be quick writing exercises to limber up your imagination. Then you'll get a slew of ideas related to that month's theme. Choose one or more to explore through writing.
These writing ideas can be developed for inclusion in a book, on a blog, or crafted with publication in mind. There are so many options and you can take any of the ideas presented to develop further. Write about the topic directly, indirectly, take the opposite tack, or use just a phrase or an image from the suggestions as your source of inspiration. The possibilities are endless!
These thematic sessions may include additional training, tips, and sharing of writing, too.
Sharing Sessions
No story is complete until someone reads or hears it. During our time together, you'll be writing, exploring different topics, seeing yourself through different prisms, and creating a bank of stories to use in a memoir, a compilation of stories, a blog or to leave as a family legacy.
You'll also have the opportunity to share your writing with others. We'll have live sessions where you can read portions of your writing and get positive and supportive feedback.
It can feel scary to share your work, but it's also one of the best ways to gain confidence as a writer and storyteller. The Story Lounge provides you with an environment to explore your creativity, take risks, and grow as a maker of stories.
The Sharing Sessions occur the third Wednesday of the month at 2pm Eastern.
Private Facebook Group
The Story Lounge Facebook Group is an exclusive, private group for those participating in the Story Lounge Program. It's a perfect place to discuss your progress with the monthly themes and to celebrate your wins!
The power of community cannot be underestimated: you'll be cheered on in your efforts and make heart-felt connections.
Feel free to share your writing in the group or wait until we meet at the Sharing Session to share your story.
Don't Abandon Your Inner Creative Spark
Too many women buy into the myth of the isolated writer who is inspired by the muse 24/7. But that is not how it actually works.
And too many women believe the falsehood that only creative people can write stories. Or that, after a certain age, it's too late to start writing. Nothing is farther from the truth, because every single person is creative and has endless potential. As the writer George Eliot puts it: It's never too late to be who you were meant to be.
Still others find it difficult to carve out in a tiny bit of time to write about their life. I get it! The truth of the matter is that life is full of responsibilities, day-to-day commitments, kids, family, caregiving and more, and the idea of fitting in writing for pleasure often seems impossible.
As a result, that life-long dream of communicating on a deep level with the world is shelved for seemingly more pressing concerns.
But it doesn't have to be that way. You can easily integrate your desire to tell your stories into your everyday life when you are part of a supportive and inspiring community.
The Story Lounge has been created so that, instead of doing it all alone and reinventing the wheel, or getting overwhelmed by the day-to-day, you get to have the most productive, inspiring, and powerful year of unearthing your stories, and creating the impact you desire.
